Peter Illich Tchaikovsky Biography

Peter Illich Tchaikovsky, or peter ilich tchaikovsky (Пётр Ильич Чайковский) was born in Votkisk, which is the western ural part of Russia. Tchaikovsky was taking music classes at the St. Petersburg conservatory. His teacher was Anton Rubenstein, who also was one of the most distinguished composers. Thanks to Rubenstein’s brother Nicholas Rubenstein, Tchaikovsky had the job of a teacher of harmony at the Moscow Conservatory. Tchaikovsky’s first opera was called the Voyevoda, 1868. His second opera was Unidine 1869. Tchaikovsky’s during his early composing years also wrote the piano concerto #1 in B-flat minor, 1875. His works in his early years also included symphony #1 called Winter Dreams 1868, #2 Little Russian, 1873, and the overture Romeo and Juliet in 1870, and revised in 1880 was #3. #1 in B-flat, was originally dedicated to Nicholas Rubinstein, although it was rededicated to the German Pianist Hans Guido con Bǖlow. Hans returned the nice dedication by playing this concerto during his first concert while on a tour in the United States 1875-1876. Rubinstein later got over this rededication, and even made that individual piece part of his own program. In 1876, Tchaikovsky met a woman by the name of Nadejda von Meck, who was a wealthy widow. She started to give him an annual salary of money. Later although, 14 years after she met him, stopped paying him a salary because she thought that she was in bankruptcy. Tchaikovsky was very upset with her when she just so suddenly cut off his salary, although by that time, he had plenty of assets for his income. This period of 14 years was one of the most productive of Tchaikovsky’s entire life. Tchaikovsky’s wrote many operas in this time. They include The maid of Orleans, 1879. Eugene Onegin, 1879. Mazeppa 1883. During this 14 year period, Tchaikovsky also composed many ballets. Swan lake in 1876. The Sleeping Beauty in 1889. In 1877 Tchaikovsky got married to Antonina Milyukova. She had also gone to the Moscow Conservatory. She had written a letter to Tchaikovsky, as a declaration of her love for him. Unfortunately, this marriage didn’t work out, and they separated. During the time of 1887-1891, Tchaikovsky made successful concert tours. He toured the United States, and Europe. In 1890, Tchaikovsky composed one of his personal best operas called the Queen of Spades. In 1891, Tchaikovsky composed the Nutcracker. In 1893, after his most recent piece was incorrectly understood, Tchaikovsky died only 9 days later.

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Russian: Пётр Ильич Чайковский, sometimes transliterated as Piotr, Anglicised as Peter Ilich, (April 25 [old style] / May 7 [new style] 1840 - November 6, 1893) was a Russian composer. His works include six symphonies, the "1812 Overture", the operas Eugene Onegin and The Queen of Spades and the ballets Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker. Tchaikovsky's ballet Swan Lake debuted on March 4, 1877. Tchaikovsky was born in Kamsko-Votinsk, Russia, on May 7th 1840. Peter Tchaikovsky died in Saint Petersburg, Russia and was interred in Tikhvin Cemetery at the Alexander Nevsky Monastery, St. Petersburg, Russia.
