Anton Grigoryevich Rubenstein Biography

Anton Grigoryevich Rubenstein was born in 1829 in Vikhvatinetz. He received his musical training in Moscow. He gave his first public concert at the age of 10, and later studied in Berlin. He toured Russia often, and greatly influenced Russian musical culture. In 1862 founded the Imperial Conservatory of Music in St. Petersburg. Rubenstein best works include Melody in F, in 1859, and Kammenyi-ostrov, in 1859, which translates to Rocky island. His brother Nicholas Rubinstein was also a famous Pianist, but not as famous as him.
